The Pakistani military reported on Sunday that six militants were killed and three others wounded in a fierce clash with security forces in North Waziristan.
According to Pakistani media, the gunfight occurred on Friday night in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan when a group of militants attempted to infiltrate the Mir Ali region. The Pakistani military stated that the encounter was part of ongoing efforts to curb militant activity in the region.
This latest operation comes just days after a separate incident in the Khumrang area of South Waziristan, where five militants were killed during an operation targeting infiltrators.
The military’s public relations arm, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), once again called for stronger measures from the Afghan Taliban to prevent militants from using Afghan soil as a base for cross-border attacks on Pakistan. The Taliban, however, has denied the presence of Pakistani Taliban and other extremist groups within Afghanistan’s borders.
The surge in militant activity presents a growing challenge for Pakistan, which has witnessed a significant increase in insurgent attacks in recent months, posing a serious threat to national security.
