World leaders congratulate Trump as he claims victory in 2024 presidential election

Messages of congratulations from world leaders poured in for Donald J. Trump on Wednesday after he declared victory in the 2024 presidential election, expressing confidence in what he called a “magnificent victory” that he said would mark a “golden age of America.”

Despite Trump’s announcement, NBC News has not yet projected a winner, with Trump reportedly needing one more state to secure the 270 electoral votes required, according to CBS News projections.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was among the first to offer congratulations, recalling his prior meeting with Trump and praising his “peace through strength” approach. “This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer,” Zelensky wrote on social media, adding that he looked forward to working with Trump to strengthen the U.S.-Ukraine strategic partnership and ensure long-term peace and security in Europe.

French President Emmanuel Macron shared a congratulatory note, affirming his readiness to collaborate once more. “Congratulations, President Trump. Ready to work together as we did for four years, with respect and ambition, for more peace and prosperity,” Macron said.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also extended congratulations, calling the U.S. and Australia “great friends and true allies” and expressing eagerness to build on the two nations’ longstanding partnership.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered similar sentiments, hailing Trump’s victory as “historic” and voicing hopes to “strengthen and broaden” the Pakistan-U.S. partnership under the new administration.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a frequent supporter of Trump, called the election outcome “the biggest comeback in U.S. political history,” calling it a “much-needed victory for the world.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu joined the wave of congratulations, addressing Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump directly: “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America,” Netanyahu wrote, calling Trump’s win a “huge victory.”

Trump celebrated his claimed victory from West Palm Beach, surrounded by family and key supporters, including billionaire donor Elon Musk. If confirmed, Trump would be the first former president in more than 130 years to reclaim the White House, a feat he describes as a “golden age” for America. The race’s official outcome, however, remains unconfirmed as final results continue to be tallied.
