Afghan national fatally stabbed in Iran amid rising tensions

TEHRAN — An Afghan national was fatally stabbed in the Iranian city of Shiraz, sources told Amu on Saturday, in a case that underscores growing tensions faced by Afghan migrants in Iran.

The victim, identified as Fawad Andarabi, was from De Salah district in Afghanistan’s Kunduz province. According to sources, his body remains in a morgue in Shiraz as authorities investigate the killing.

This incident follows a report two weeks ago in which an Afghan family alleged that their son was severely beaten and his face burned by an Iranian family. The family, fearing further threats, said they have since gone into hiding.

Afghan migrants in Iran have recently reported an increase in mistreatment, with accounts of harassment, violence, and discrimination sparking concerns among human rights groups.
