Healthcare agreement signed to provide services for journalists in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Afghan Independent Journalists’ Association has signed a three-year agreement with a private hospital in Kabul to provide healthcare services to journalists, the union announced on Tuesday.

The agreement, signed in the presence of journalists and media advocates, will offer discounts ranging from 50 to 70 percent on medical services for members of the association and their immediate families, according to a statement from the union.

The healthcare services will be provided by the Sabit Shinwari Private Hospital in Kabul, the statement said.

The agreement covers only journalists who are registered members of the Afghan Independent Journalists’ Association and their close family members.

This initiative comes as Afghan journalists continue to face significant challenges, including threats to their safety and limited access to resources.
