Taliban surround offices of international NGO in Kabul, source says

Taliban have surrounded the offices of the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) in Afghanistan and interrogated its employees, according to a source in Kabul.

The incident, which occurred nearly three weeks ago, led to the suspension of INSO’s operations in the capital, the source told Amu.

The Taliban’s intelligence services are said to have questioned INSO staff during the raid. INSO, which provides safety and security support to humanitarian organizations, has offices in Kabul and other major cities, including Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, and Nangarhar.

The organization has yet to publicly comment on the incident and did not respond to Amu’s request for information at the time of reporting.

Founded in 2011, INSO is an independent, international non-governmental organization based in The Hague. According to its website, INSO emerged from the complex political environment in Afghanistan, where non-governmental organizations continue to face significant security challenges.

As of now, the reasons behind the Taliban’s actions remain unclear.
