28 Afghan nationals released from Pakistan prisons

The Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced on Tuesday that 28 Afghan citizens held in Pakistani prisons have been released and returned to Afghanistan.

The ministry reported that the detainees, who were released on Monday, Oct. 8, had been imprisoned for lacking legal documentation.

According to the Torkham border authority in Nangarhar Province, the individuals had been detained by Pakistani police for periods ranging from two months to nearly four months.

Among those released were eight teenagers, according to a statement from the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.

According to the ministry, the repatriation of these individuals is part of ongoing efforts to secure the release of Afghan citizens detained abroad for documentation-related issues.
