Fifteen Afghan nationals were released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan on Wednesday, October 2, according to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees.
The ministry’s statement explained that the individuals had been detained by Pakistani police for lacking proper residency documentation.
They had reportedly spent between 15 days and two months in custody.
The released Afghans had been held in prisons in the city of Peshawar, the statement noted. Among those freed were three children.
According to the ministry, the group returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, which connects the two countries.
