A former employee of the Traffic Department in Balkh province, identified as Hikmatullah, was shot and killed by unknown gunmen on Friday, sources told Amu.
The attack took place in Police District 11 of Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital.
Hikmatullah, who leaves behind three children aged between five and seven, was reportedly targeted, though the motive for the killing remains unclear.
Local Taliban officials in Balkh have not yet commented on the incident.
