More than 350 Afghan migrant families returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran on Friday, according to a report from the Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency.
The agency reported that 355 families were either deported or returned voluntarily. Of those, 91 families were expelled from Pakistan, while 254 came from Iran. The report noted that 33 families crossing from Pakistan used the Torkham border, and 58 others entered through the Spin Boldak crossing.
From Iran, 98 families entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border, while 166 crossed at the Pul-e-Abrisham border.
Afghan migrants in both neighboring countries have expressed concerns about mistreatment. In Iran, the governor of Kerman instructed schools not to enroll Afghan students, warning of consequences for those who do. Afghan migrants in Pakistan have similarly complained of facing severe hardships, with many reporting significant mental and emotional stress.
