KABUL, Afghanistan —Taliban publicly flogged two men and a woman in Khost province, marking the fourth consecutive day of such punishments across various provinces.

Each was lashed 35 times in public, the court said, addig that the men received additional prison sentences ranging from one and a half to three years.

The lashing ceremony was attended by several Taliban officials, including the chief of the local court, the statement said.

This incident is the latest in a series of public floggings carried out by the Taliban since they seized power in Afghanistan in 2021.

On Wednesday, August 28, two people were publicly flogged in Ghazni province. The day before, three people were flogged in southern Helmand province, and on Monday, August 26, 12 individuals were flogged in southern Zabul province.

The resumption of public corporal punishment has drawn widespread condemnation from international organizations and human rights groups, including the United Nations.
