5.4-magnitude earthquake strikes Kabul other provinces

KABUL, Afghanistan — A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Afghanistan on Thursday morning, shaking parts of the country, including the capital, Kabul.

The earthquake occurred at approximately 10:26 a.m. local time, with its epicenter in the Ashkasham district of Badakhshan province, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There have been no immediate reports of possible casualties or damage.

The tremors were also felt in Nangarhar province and other areas, with residents describing the quake as “relatively strong.”
