Taliban publicly flogged three men in Helmand Province on Tuesday on charges of theft, continuing its controversial practice of corporal punishment.

According to a statement from the Taliban-run Supreme Court, two of the men received 39 lashes each in the Babaji district of the province and were sentenced to two years in prison.

The third man was given 30 lashes and was sentenced to eight months in prison.

In the most recent case, the Taliban flogged 12 people on Monday in public for various alleged crimes.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of public corporal punishment that the Taliban has resumed since regaining control of Afghanistan, despite widespread condemnation from international organizations and human rights groups, including the United Nations.

Data compiled by Amu TV reveals that over the past three years, the Taliban’s Supreme Court has stoned 37 individuals and prosecuted 176 others on various charges. Additionally, nearly 600 people, including 106 women, have been publicly flogged during this period.
