A man reportedly hanged himself while in Taliban custody at a security compound in the northern province of Faryab, sources told Amu on Saturday.
The man, identified as Naqibullah, had been detained on charges of having “illicit relationship” with a woman.
Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns about the treatment of detainees in Taliban prisons, citing reports of torture and the lack of access to a fair trial within the Taliban’s judicial system.
