Taliban flogs two, including woman, in Kabul

Two individuals were publicly flogged by the Taliban in Kabul on charges of “illicit relationship,” according to a statement by the Taliban-run Supreme Court.

According to the statement, the woman received 32 lashes, while the man was flogged 39 times.

A report by Amu, released on July 25, revealed that since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, 587 individuals, including 106 women, have been subjected to flogging.

The statement also noted that during this period, the Taliban carried out 37 stoning sentences.

Public floggings by the Taliban have been widely criticized by the United Nations and international human rights organizations.
