Junbish Panjar-e Omid, a women’s rights group, marked the third anniversary of the collapse of Afghanistan’s republican government on August 15, calling it a black day for the country.
In a statement, the group highlighted the systematic removal of women, violence against humanity, genocide, and the massacre of innocent people from all aspects of society since the fall of the government. They attributed the events of August 15, 2021, to the Doha agreement, which they claimed “handed over a democratic government to a military.”
“Three years ago today, the provinces of Afghanistan were being surrendered to the Taliban one after another. The people of Afghanistan, especially women, viewed this bitter tragedy with eyes full of hatred and hearts filled with sorrow,” the statement read.
The group also pointed to the mass refugee waves triggered by the Taliban’s takeover, noting that Afghans living in exile face severe challenges.
