Afghanistan to host South Africa for ODI series

The Afghanistan national cricket team will face South Africa in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series from September 18 to 22 in the United Arab Emirates, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Wednesday.

This series marks the first bilateral series between the two nations, who have previously only met in World Cup matches. South Africa has won all encounters to date.

Earlier, the ACB announced it would host New Zealand for a one-off test match in Greater Noida, India, from September 9 to 13.

Afghanistan has had a remarkable journey in recent international cricket competitions. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, the team, known as the Blue Tigers, secured victories against England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Afghanistan advanced to the semifinals, defeating top teams including Australia and New Zealand.
