Pakistan defense minister calls Afghan nationals ‘ungrateful’ amid protest

The Pakistani Defense Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has labeled Afghan nationals as “ungrateful” following a protest outside the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.

Asif asserted that Pakistan had fought Afghanistan’s war against the former Soviet Union and continues to host approximately four million Afghan citizens.

His comments were in response to a demonstration in Frankfurt where protesters, waving Afghan flags, stormed the consulate and pulled down the Pakistani flag.

“We should reconsider our hospitality,” Asif stated, referring to the Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

The protest was also condemned by Pakistan’s foreign ministry.
