Pakistan frees 11 Afghan detainees, including child

Eleven Afghan citizens, including a child, were released from Pakistani prisons and were sent back to Afghanistan, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees.

In two separate statements, the ministry said these nationals were arrested by Pakistani police due to a lack of residency documents.

Among the released individuals is a child who spent two and a half years in a Pakistani prison.

Additionally, the ministry noted that 10 other Afghan citizens were sent back to Afghanistan by Interpol.

This development comes despite appeals from the UNHCR chief for the Pakistani government to halt the deportation of undocumented Afghan migrants.
