Miller affirms US, Pakistan’s shared interests in combating regional threats

At a press conference on Monday, U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller emphasized the United States’ shared interests with Pakistan in addressing regional security threats.

In response to a question about whether the U.S. supports Pakistan’s recent military campaign targeting terrorist groups in Afghanistan, Miller said, “The Pakistani people have suffered greatly at the hands of terrorists. We have a shared interest in combating threats to regional security.”

Pakistan has accused the Taliban of harboring the Pakistani Taliban, or TTP, in Afghanistan. However, the Taliban maintains that the TTP issue is an internal matter for Pakistan and does not concern them.
