KABUL — The Taliban’s foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, emphasized in a phone call with Iran’s acting foreign minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, that interference in Afghanistan’s affairs would not benefit any side.
Muttaqi advocated for cooperation and consultation as the path forward for development.
The Taliban’s spokesman for the foreign ministry, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, quoted Muttaqi as saying that there have been “good economic and political developments” between Iran and the Taliban, expressing hope for further advancement in relations.
Iran’s Bagheri, revealing the details of the call on social media platform X, noted that both the Taliban and Iran are striving for regional stability.
This conversation occurs amid growing concerns from neighboring countries, including Pakistan and Tajikistan, about rising terrorist threats emanating from Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
