As deportations continue, nearly 4,000 migrants return to Afghanistan from Iran, Pakistan

At least 4,000 migrants, who were either deported or returned voluntarily from Iran and Pakistan, entered Afghanistan on Tuesday, June 11, according to a statement by Taliban-run refugees ministry.

The ministry detailed that at least 3,437 Afghan migrants returned via the Silk Path in Nimroz province. Among these returnees, 640 were identified as vulnerable individuals.

Additionally, 275 Afghan migrants deported by Pakistan entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing.

This development comes as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Wednesday that it has assisted over 1.2 million people in Afghanistan from 2018 to 2023.

Both Pakistan and Iran have emphasized the deportation of Afghan refugees as a primary challenge, underscoring the ongoing complexities of regional migration policies.
