FAIZABAD, Afghanistan — Sources in Badakhshan reported that a Taliban shooting on Monday injured 20 people during a protest in the Argu district.
Initially, 15 injuries were reported.
The injured protesters were transported by helicopter to Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan, according to the sources.
The sources also confirmed that three people died in the incident, which occurred in the village of Berlas in Argu district.
The protests, coupled with calls for solidarity with the demonstrators, have prompted messages urging the public to stand with those in Argu.
