According to Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees, 582 refugees have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan in the past day, either through forced deportation or voluntarily.
A ministry statement detailed that 67 families, comprising 336 individuals, crossed back into Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing.
The statement also noted that 246 people have returned voluntarily. This influx comes as Pakistan intensifies its efforts to deport Afghan refugees as part of the second phase of its policy, which began in November 2023.
Reports indicate that approximately 500,000 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan since the implementation of this policy by the Pakistani government.
