U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday, marking the first stop on his broader Middle East tour.
During his visit, Blinken will engage with Arab partners to discuss the future governance of Gaza following recent conflicts and to urge Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to implement the specific actions President Joe Biden requested earlier this month to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
In Riyadh, Blinken is slated to meet with top Saudi officials and convene a larger meeting with representatives from five Arab countries — Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan. These discussions aim to advance the dialogue on the potential administration of the Gaza Strip post-conflict, a senior State Department official reported.
