US special envoy condemns attacks in Kandahar and Kabul

Thomas West, the U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan, condemned recent attacks in Kandahar and Kabul as “senseless terrorist attacks,” expressing condolences for the innocent lives lost during the holy month of Ramadan.

“The United States condemns the senseless terrorist attacks in Kandahar and Kabul earlier today that claimed innocent civilian lives during the holy month of Ramadan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost,” West stated on X, without specifying the platform used for the statement.

A suicide bombing happened outside a Kabul Bank branch in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan, on Thursday morning, resulting in at least 20 fatalities and injuring more than 30 individuals.

Later the same day, another explosion occurred in Kabul’s Police District 4, further escalating the violence. Details on casualties or the motive behind the Kabul explosion have not been immediately provided.
