Taliban claims 500 former government personnel returned to Panjshir

The Taliban’s governor for Panjshir, Mohammad Hakim Agha, reported that approximately 500 former military and civilian personnel of the previous government have returned to Panjshir.

The Taliban interior ministry shared on X that these returnees have rejoined their families.

This comes amidst recent reports of human rights abuses by Taliban, including arbitrary arrests in Panjshir. According to United Nations human rights reports, the Taliban is accused of detaining and killing of former government personnel. However, the Taliban has consistently refuted the UN’s findings.
