Pakistan deported 785 Afghan migrants on Wednesday, Jan. 3, continuing its efforts to repatriate undocumented immigrants, according to Pakistani media.

This number closely mirrors the deportations reported on Jan. 2. The migrants were sent back through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings.

Pakistani media figures indicate that since last November, a total of 458,046 undocumented Afghans have been returned to Afghanistan.

The Taliban has reported that since the deportations began last October, approximately 800,000 Afghans have been deported from Pakistan.

The mass deportations have sparked concerns about the situation of the returnees, particularly in light of the lack of shelter and other resources during Afghanistan’s cold winter.
