Israeli airstrike kills Palestinian journalist, family members in Gaza refugee camp

A Palestinian journalist with Al-Quds TV and several family members were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their home in a central Gaza refugee camp on Friday, health officials and journalists report.

The airstrike, part of an ongoing conflict in the region, struck the Nuseirat camp in Deir al-Balah.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society released footage on Saturday showing rescue workers and civilians aiding an injured child near a destroyed building, as others searched for survivors and retrieved casualties.

Israel’s intensified military actions in Gaza followed a surprise incursion by Hamas in October.

These actions have led to widespread displacement among Gaza’s 2.3 million residents. Gaza health authorities report at least 21,672 Palestinians killed and more than 56,000 injured, with additional casualties feared under collapsed structures.
