Afghanistan: Polio vaccination campaign set to kick off in 14 provinces

A new round of polio vaccination campaigns is slated to commence on Monday in 14 provinces throughout Afghanistan, including the capital city of Kabul.

As per a statement released by the Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health, the campaign will take place in the following provinces: Kabul, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Parwan, and Kapisa.

The most recent case of poliovirus was recorded in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan at the end of last month.

To date, six new cases of polio have been reported in Afghanistan this year.

The preceding round of polio vaccination campaigns occurred on September 20, covering more than 11 million children under the age of five.
