Thousands of impassioned protesters flooded the streets of India on Friday in response to the Manipur sexual assault incident.
Amid the demonstration, protesters held aloft posters and illuminated the scene with flickering candles, rallying together to demand justice for the two women who fell victim to the horrific ordeal during ethnic tensions in Manipur back in May.
According to authorities, a perpetrator reportedly forcibly dragged two tribal women onto the streets and subsequently incited a mob to subject them to sexual assault and parading them naked. These distressing events unfolded amidst escalating ethnic clashes that have engulfed the state.
While the sexual assault occurred over two months ago, the case garnered nationwide attention after a short video capturing the incident went viral on social media earlier this week.
