Five citizens of Afghanistan were killed in a shooting by Iranian forces along the border between the two countries on Saturday night, a Taliban spokesman said.
The incident occurred when individuals attempted to illegally cross the border to Iran and were met with gunfire from Iranian border forces as reported by Taliban.
A woman was among those killed in the incident, he said.
State-run media outlet, Tasnim, quoted an Iranian border official, Reza Shirawzhan, as saying that the photos shared on social media about the incident are not true and that the individuals have not been killed by Iranian border forces.
