Sweden appoints Johan Ndisi as its special envoy for Afghanistan

Johan Ndisi has been appointed as Sweden’s special envoy for Afghanistan and the new head of the Swedish embassy for Afghanistan, Sweden’s ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement on Saturday.

The embassy’s operations have been moved to Stockholm for the time being, said the statement, adding that he will take his position in August.

Johan Ndisi is the deputy head of the Africa Unit at the Foreign Ministry of Sweden.

He has previously been ambassador in Tirana and served at the embassy in Harare and at Sweden’s EU representation in Brussels.

He has also, among other things, been deputy head of the Communications Unit at the Foreign Ministry.
