Eight Pakistani pilgrims die and six injured in Mecca hotel fire

At least eight Pakistani Umrah pilgrims were killed and six others sustained injuries in a fire that broke out in a hotel in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, local media outlets reported.

According to reports, the fire started on the third floor of the hotel, located on Ibrahim Khalil Road in Mecca City.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement eight Pakistanis died and six sustained injuries.

“We have reports of eight deaths and six injured Pakistanis in the incident. Our Mission in Jeddah is in contact with local authorities to provide relief to the victims and their families,” the statement read.

The Pakistani diplomatic mission was also trying to ensure the well-being of the affected individuals and provide necessary assistance to the bereaved families.

Pilgrims from other countries, including Bangladesh, were also staying at the hotel, reports indicated.
