Spanish cyclist Jesus Herrada claimed victory at the Tour of Oman second stage from Muscat to Qurayyat on Sunday.
The Cofidis rider broke away from nearest competitors, Lotto Dstny’s Maxim Van Gils and Diego Ulissi of UAE Team Emirates, who finished second and third respectively, completing the 174km mostly uphill route in a time of 4 hours, 21 minutes and 7 seconds.
The victory puts Herrada on the leaderboard, 4 seconds ahead of Van Gils.
Herrada and his Cofidis teammates will seek to defend the red jersey as the Tour of Oman continues on Monday with the 152km third stage from Al Khobar to Jabal Haat.
