The Taliban’s foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, has invited Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister, to visit Kabul, the Taliban foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry said the invitation was extended during a telephone call between the two ministers, which Muttaqi described as “useful” high-level consultations.
According to the statement, Oman’s foreign minister stressed the importance of exchanging delegations to expand cooperation and said a technical aviation delegation from Oman would travel to Kabul in the near future.
The Taliban said Al Busaidi also expressed readiness to visit Kabul and voiced hope that the trip would lead to constructive talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Oman’s foreign ministry has not publicly commented on the phone call or confirmed plans for a visit to Kabul.
