A video circulating sent to Amu by migrants on Sunday shows Pakistani police slamming the door of a refugee family’s home in Islamabad’s Faisal Town, amid an intensified crackdown on Afghan nationals living in the capital and other cities.
Rights groups and residents say police operations have expanded in recent days, with officers conducting raids and detaining Afghans who lack up-to-date documentation. Pakistan has stepped up arrests as part of a broader campaign to expel undocumented migrants.
Authorities have not commented on the incident shown in the video.
Millions of Afghans have lived in Pakistan for decades, while more than 500,000 fled to the country after the Taliban takeover in 2021.
Pakistan had deported more than one million Afghan nationals by April 2025 since launching its repatriation campaign in 2023.
