Taliban spokesman says Pakistani airstrikes in three provinces killed 10 civilians

A building hit by Pakistan’s attacks on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Sources said five members of a family living in the house have been wounded.

Taliban chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Pakistan carried out overnight airstrikes in three eastern provinces, including Khost, Kunar and Paktika that killed nine children and a woman.

The shelling struck the Gurbuz district of Khost province around midnight, where Mujahid said a family home belonging to a man named Waliyat‑Khan, son of Qazi‑Mir, was destroyed.

He also said that Pakistan’s forces bombed areas in Kunar and Paktika provinces, wounding four non‑combatants and damaging at least two homes.

“A home of one local resident was hit, nine children lost their lives and the house has been flattened,” Mujahid said, adding that Pakistani jets were responsible.

Pakistan’s military and government have not yet publicly confirmed the strikes or offered comment on Monday’s allegations.

The reported air attacks come amid heightened tensions between the neighboring countries following border clashes and militant activities, intensifying concerns of a wider escalation along the Afghanistan‑Pakistan frontier.

This comes as Taliban and Pakistan are facing unprecedented tensions that escalated after an eight-day border skirmish in October. The October clashes left 37 killed and over 400 others wounded, according to UNAMA figures.

Following the October clashes, five major border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan were closed for trade and transit as well as travellers.

Taliban and Pakistan have held three found of talks, one in Doha and two more in Istanbul, but the negotiations in Turkey have failed over disagreements between the two sides, mainly about the presence of TTP in Afghanistan.
