Abdul Ghafour Abed, a local reporter from the Taliban-run national TV, RTA, was killed and Tawab Rahman, another reporter for the media outlet, was wounded in cross-border gunfire by Pakistani forces, local sources told Amu TV on Wednesday.

Sources said Arman’s condition is critical.

The incident occurred amid ongoing border clashes between Taliban forces and the Pakistani military in southeastern Afghanistan, where violence has intensified in recent days.

Taliban and Pakistani forces clashed early Wednesday in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar, where the Taliban claim 12 civilians were killed and more than 100 others wounded. The fighting reportedly began at 4 a.m. and continued for several hours.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Pakistani forces initiated the clash by firing across the border, and Taliban fighters responded, allegedly capturing several Pakistani posts and inflicting casualties on Pakistani forces. No figures were provided, and Pakistani officials have not commented on the incident.

Clashes also erupted in the Terwo district of Paktika, where fighting was still ongoing as of Wednesday afternoon, according to local sources.

Tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have escalated in recent weeks, leading to a series of deadly confrontations along the border.
