A former member special force from Afghanistan’s previous government was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the eastern province of Logar, local sources said Friday.
The victim, identified as Commander Latif, was attacked in the Mohammad Agha district market while shopping with his family, according to the sources.
They said the incident occurred about a week ago but the family was warned not to speak publicly. Latif had remained in the area after the Taliban takeover and reportedly had no personal disputes.
Taliban have not commented on the killing.
In recent years, several former Afghan military personnel have been killed or injured in similar incidents.
