A Taliban member was killed in Parwan province’s Salang district in what sources described as a personal dispute.
Local residents told Amu TV the man, identified as Zila, son of Dost Mohammad Salangi, was shot dead at his home in the Kuk Lami valley. According to the sources, the attacker first wounded Salangi’s wife and then opened fire on Zila when he tried to rescue her.
A nephew of Dost Mohammad and another relative of Zila were also killed in the shooting. The assailant fled the scene after taking a weapon, the sources said.
Dost Mohammad Salangi, who has described himself on social media as a commander of the National Resistance Front and fled to Iran after the collapse of the former republic, confirmed that his wife was injured and his son and nephew were killed. He claimed his son was a university student in Sar-e-Pul and had only traveled home to visit his family.
Local sources disputed that account, saying Salangi’s sons were active members of the Taliban. A source from the National Resistance Front also told Amu TV that Salangi has no formal ties with the group.
The sources added that another of Salangi’s sons is currently serving with the Taliban in Andarab’s Deh Salah district.
The identity of the attacker remains unknown, and the Taliban have not publicly commented on the incident.
