A Taliban member was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the northern province of Takhar earlier this week, according to local sources.
The Taliban member, identified as Khudad Rahimi, was a resident of Aqtaash district in neighboring Kunduz province and was considered close to Mullah Sirat, a local Taliban commander, the sources said.
The killing took place two nights ago in Taloqan, the provincial capital. The Taliban have not publicly commented, but local officials have privately confirmed the death, the sources added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
