Sources: Gaza rallies barred in Kandahar over security concerns

KANDAHAR — Taliban did not permit a public rally in Kandahar City in support of Gaza on Friday, diverging from other cities where demonstrations were held, according to local sources.

The sources told Amu that Taliban cited “security concerns” as the reason for denying permission to gather publicly.

By contrast, rallies were staged in Kabul and several other provinces, where demonstrators waved Palestinian and Taliban flags and chanted anti-Israel slogans. However, in Kabul, sources said the Taliban restricted media access, preventing protesters from speaking to journalists. Only members of the group were allowed to comment publicly.
