The emphatic victory was built on a monumental first-innings total of 612 for 7 declared, with standout performances from Bahir Shah, who scored a sublime 187 off 274 balls, and Riaz Hassan, who added a composed 94 off 190. Their contributions set the tone for a dominant Afghan showing.
In reply, Ireland A managed 309 for 9 declared in their first innings, led by Cade Carmichael (124) and Tom Mayes (79), but were undone by Afghanistan’s disciplined bowling attack. Zia Akbar and Arab Momad claimed four wickets apiece to restrict the Irish side well short of the follow-on target.
