Afghanistan under-19 team routs Nepal by 130 runs in ODI series opener

KATHMANDU, Nepal — Afghanistan’s under-19 national cricket team secured a commanding 130-run victory over Nepal in the opening match of their One Day International series on Thursday at the Mulpani Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu.

With the win, Afghanistan takes a 1-0 lead in the series.

Faisal Khan led the batting effort for Afghanistan, falling just short of a century with 97 runs. Khalid Ahmadzai added 75 runs, helping set a formidable target for the hosts.

On the bowling side, Zaitullah Shaheen, Mahboob Khan and Wahidullah Zadran each claimed two wickets, contributing to a strong all-around performance from the visitors.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again on Sunday for the second match of the series.
