Iran executes two Afghan nationals

TEHRAN — Iran executed eight prisoners, including two Afghan nationals, at Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, according to Iran Human Rights, a Norway-based advocacy group.

The organization said Friday that the individuals were convicted in separate cases on charges ranging from drug-related offenses and armed rebellion to rape and murder.

The executions of six prisoners, including the two Afghans, were carried out on Wednesday, the group reported.

The identities of the Afghan nationals have not been disclosed, but reports indicate they were convicted of rape.

Iran Human Rights also said that Mahmoud Barahouyi, an ethnic Baluch from Zahedan, and Hossein Sasani were executed on Thursday.

While the rights group reported eight executions, Iranian media have confirmed only four—one for murder and three for rape.

Iranian authorities have not commented on the remaining cases or provided further details.
