GHAZNI, Afghanistan — As winter grips Afghanistan, families in Ghazni say they are struggling with worsening economic hardship, facing both freezing temperatures and empty dinner tables.
With little food and no reliable source of heat, Zahra and her family are among those enduring the brunt of the crisis.
“We have nothing to eat,” she said. “My whole body aches. We have no food, no warm clothes. Our life is in ruins. If we manage to find some flour one day, we have nothing for the next.”
Her husband, Qurban Ali, echoed her concerns, describing the lack of work opportunities in the province.

“No matter how much I try, I can’t make a living,” he said. “I work as a laborer, but I barely earn anything. I go to the mountains to collect firewood to keep my family warm, but even that is beyond my strength. I’ve been working for ten years and still can’t afford to fix my teeth.”
Across Afghanistan, from the capital to remote provinces, people are voicing frustration over the scarcity of jobs. Some have told Amu TV that as temperatures drop, they are forced to choose between heating their homes and putting food on the table, or between buying medicine and buying a meal.
Economic analysts warn that these struggles are signs of a deepening crisis in the country, with no immediate relief in sight.
