Fire breaks out at Kabul shoe factory

KABUL, Afghanistan — A large fire broke out at a shoe manufacturing factory in the Qabil Bai area of Kabul’s Ninth Police District on Friday afternoon, according to local sources.

Details about potential casualties or the extent of damage caused by the blaze remain unclear.

Taliban have yet to comment on the incident or provide further information.

Fires in industrial areas of Kabul are not uncommon, often attributed to inadequate safety measures and outdated infrastructure. On January 8,  a fire broke out near a commercial market in the Pul-e-Khishti area of southeastern Kabul, leaving heavy damage to shop owners in the market.
