The Saudi Arabian diplomatic mission in Afghanistan announced that it has resumed operations in Kabul, effective Sunday, December 22.
In a statement, the diplomatic mission said the move reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering “brotherly relations and bilateral cooperation” between “the two nations”.
Following the fall of the Afghan Republic government in August 2021, numerous foreign embassies closed in Kabul, halting formal representation in the country.
Saudi Arabia’s embassy staff also left Kabul on February 5, 2023, citing “security concerns.”
