After losing the first game by four wickets, Afghanistan rebounded with consecutive wins on Friday and Saturday to claim the series. The turning point came on Friday, when Afghanistan dominated Zimbabwe with a commanding 50-run victory.
In the series finale, Afghanistan’s bowlers set the tone after winning the toss and electing to bowl. Rashid Khan, the team’s skipper, delivered an impressive performance, taking four wickets for 27 runs in his four-over spell. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Azmatullah Omarzai contributed by taking two wickets each, restricting Zimbabwe to 127 runs.
Afghanistan’s chase got off to a rocky start with early wickets falling during the powerplay. However, a steady partnership between Azmatullah Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib stabilized the innings. Mohammad Nabi’s crucial batting in the final over sealed the win for Afghanistan.
The two teams are set to face each other again on December 17 in the first match of their ODI bilateral series.
