MAIMANA, Afghanistan — A traffic accident on Sunday in Faryab Province left one person dead and three others injured, according to local sources.

The incident occurred along the Maimana-Almar highway when a passenger vehicle overturned, sources said. The deceased was identified as Sayed Javid, a resident of Almar district.

While Taliban-run traffic authorities have attributed the rising number of accidents to driver negligence, residents have pointed to worsening road conditions, exacerbated by snowy weather across several provinces, as a significant factor in recent weeks.
